| Painted as a mural in the salon of the Jas de Bouffan, this work was copied after a painting by Nicolas Lancret. Cezanne must have painted this copy after a reproduction of the balck and white engraving, freely inventing the colors. This was the last mural to be sold from the Jas de Bouffan because of the exorbitant price being asked for it. |
